§ 99.60. Utility fees.

  • (A)

    The city is authorized to charge a fee for each of the utility services set forth in division (B) below.

    (B)

    The utility services for which the city shall charge a fee and the amount of the fee for each use are as follows:

    Water Service
    (a) Water deposit-residential $100.00
    (b) Water deposit-commercial $100.00
    (c) Any back flow device Cost plus 25 percent
    (d) Water rates within the city shall be calculated by adding the base rate to the tier based charge per 1,000 gallons of actual consumptive use. The base rate shall be $16.11 and the charge per 1,000 gallons of actual use shall be as follows:

    Users receiving service outside the city limits shall pay a charge of 125 percent of the above rates. The water rates shall be calculated by adding the base rate to the tier based charge per 1,000 gallons of actual consumptive use. The base rate shall be $20.14 and the charge per 1,000 gallons of actual use shall be as follows:

    (j) Users receiving service outside of the city limits shall pay a charge of 125 percent of the above water consumption rates.
    (k) Users receiving service outside of the city limits shall pay a charge of 125 percent of the above rates, except those set forth in paragraphs (a), (b), (d), (g), and (h).
    (l) Beginning October 1, 2006, the water rates charged by the city may adjust effective with corresponding changes in the cost of living. The adjustment shall be calculated upon the basis of the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index of All Urban Consumers (CPI-U); "All Items", U.S. Cities Average (1982—1984 = 100) ("the "Index"). The percentage increase, if any, in the Index from the preceding January to January period shall be used to adjust the water rates effective October 1 immediately following the preceding January to January period (for example, the percentage increase in the Index from January 2005 to January 2006 shall be added to the water rates effective October 1, 2006). The city manager or her designee shall calculate the appropriate adjustment each year and present to the city commission for approval.
